The Short Answer

I live in the south. While I can see many of us (Gen X'ers and younger mostly, myself included) are making a real effort to make up for our horribly racist past, let's face it…some of the "old guard" ideas are still very much in play. I heard way too many times after Obama was first elected "that ______ is going to ruin this country" before he was even sworn into office. I have no strong feelings toward him, he's not the worst president we've had, but he's not the best either. If I'm having a conversation about Obama with anyone, and they say they don't like him, I'll usually ask why. If they can give me good, clear example of specific policies he's backed that they don't agree with, OK, to each his own, you don't have to like everybody. If all they can say is "because he's black", thank you for announcing your backwoods hatred to me, now I know who to stay away from. TLDR: Yep. Some folks dislike him based on his skin color. They're idiots. Edit: misspelling
